China's Commerce Ministry has expressed firm opposition to the U.S. listing China as a country of primary concern in the 2024 Foreign Trade Barriers Report. In a series of statements, China's President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation between China and the U.S. Xi also accused the U.S. of suppressing China's economic trade and technology advancements, highlighting the growing list of sanctions against Chinese firms. He stressed that China and the U.S. cannot avoid exchanges and interactions, nor can they afford conflict and confrontation. Xi warned that China would not remain passive if the U.S. continues to suppress China's high-tech development and infringe upon its legitimate development rights.
