In a recent series of discussions, OpenAI's advancements in artificial intelligence have been highlighted, with particular focus on the upcoming GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 models. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Bill Gates engaged in an interview where they discussed the future capabilities of these AI models. Speculation suggests that GPT-4.5 might introduce an additional modality and a new approach to reasoning or could be a version of GPT-4 fine-tuned on GPT-5 output. Gates, who was initially skeptical about significant improvements in GPT-5 over GPT-4, expressed his amazement after seeing demos of the new technology. Key milestones for OpenAI in the next two years include the introduction of speech-in speech-out capabilities, full-scale multimodality, which encompasses the ability to process and integrate speech, images, and video, and reliability improvements. These developments are expected to be significant steps towards achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and could have profound impacts on the labor market and robotics.

Sam Altman reveals in an interview with Bill Gates (2 days ago) what's coming up in GPT-4.5 (or GPT-5): On multimodality: Sam predicts that the ability to incorporate speech, images, and video will be an important milestone in the next two years. He mentions that OpenAI has…
One of the key points to notice in the recent Bill Gates & Sam Altman interview is "What are OpenAI milestones for the next 2 years" These will be the capabilities aimed for GPT 5 to be achieved probably. - Speech in Speech out and full scale multi modality. - Reliability,…
Just listened to Bill gates podcast with sam, and it's very clear that OpenAI is purposely sandbagging Even Bill - who initially did not expect GPT-5 to be much better than GPT-4, mentioned how amazed he was by the demos hes seen. Right now, everyone thinks chatGPT sucks… https://t.co/OJPiU9Frng
My personal feeling is that GPT 4.5 will at least include one more modality and uses a new approach for reasoning. Another possibility is that GPT-4.5 is GPT-4 finetuned on GPT-5 output. OpenAI wants to make the transition as smooth as possible before we get AGI/GPT-5
