The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC_DOT) has implemented safety improvement projects on priority corridors as part of the Vision Zero initiative. This includes the addition of wider and parking-protected #BikeNYC lanes, pedestrian islands, and turn calming measures on Soundview Ave in the Bronx and 10th Ave in Manhattan. The upgrades aim to enhance safety for cyclists and pedestrians. Additionally, the Love Our Neighborhoods ordinance has been passed, making it easier for people to add sidewalk benches and little libraries in San Francisco, removing unnecessary red tape and empowering the community.
We did it! 🙌 There is now a protected bike lane with pedestrian refuge islands on Tenth Avenue. Phase one (37th to 52nd) is complete and phase two (14th to 37th) will be completed next year. Tenth Avenue was one of the most dangerous stretches of roadway for pedestrians and https://t.co/T3NabrxOyy
The Love Our Neighborhoods ordinance passed yesterday! This law makes it easier for people to add sidewalk benches, little libraries, & more – enriching our neighborhoods. Thankful we removed unnecessary red tape & empowered San Franciscans to bring their communities together! https://t.co/f2hrtl1xMJ
Safety Improvement Projects are especially important on #VisionZero Priority Corridors. That's why we implemented #BikeNYC & pedestrian improvements on Soundview Ave in the Bronx, including a parking protected bike lane, painted pedestrian islands & turn calming. #nycdot2023 https://t.co/SUYehtjsTO
