Over 100 UK MPs and Lords from 11 parties have signed a letter urging the UK Government to support the International Criminal Court (ICC) and condemn any threats to its independence and impartiality. This action follows the ICC's announcement to seek arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, including Netanyahu, for war crimes. The MPs and Lords are calling for the UK Government to respect the ICC's investigations into war crimes in Gaza and to support accountability for those who commit such crimes. The letter also addresses concerns about the UK Government's historical failure to oppose Israeli war crimes in Gaza. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has described the ICC's arrest warrant as a 'deeply unhelpful development.' Additionally, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) Palestine has submitted a complaint to Scotland Yard’s war crimes team against five UK ministers for their alleged complicity in Israel's actions in Gaza. Keir Starmer and David Lammy have not signed the letter. The situation in Gaza remains dire with mass graves uncovered and aid still not reaching the region.
