A memorial dedication in France honored Lt. Nathan Baskind, a Jewish American hero from Utah who was killed during WWII. Baskind had been mistakenly buried in a German mass grave for 79 years. The event, held at the Normandy American Cemetery, was organized by Operation Benjamin, a group dedicated to identifying and properly honoring Jewish soldiers. Participants, including @FDD's @jconricus, expressed the importance of remembering and defending freedom and democracy. The ceremony marked the first time Baskind was properly recognized for his sacrifice.

It was a tremendous honor to be part of @OperBenjamin and witness how an American Jewish hero, Lt Nathan Baskind, was finally brought to rest 80 years after he was killed in battle. Freedom and democracy are not free and must be defended. https://t.co/usx3209iMy
