The U.S. Congress has passed a resolution with near-unanimous support condemning the use of rape and sexual violence by Hamas as weapons of war against Israeli women and girls, following the atrocities committed on October 7. Multiple members of Congress, including RepLoisFrankel, MarioDB, RepBurgessOwens, and RepYoungKim, have spoken out against these acts, highlighting the bipartisan solidarity with the victims of terrorism and sexual violence. The resolution condemns the hatred, antisemitism, and cruelty demonstrated by Hamas and aims to hold the perpetrators accountable. Additionally, efforts to raise awareness and condemn these acts have extended beyond Congress, with calls to international bodies such as UN Women to denounce the violence. The resolution's passage marks a significant stance by the U.S. against the use of sexual violence in conflict, emphasizing that such acts are not acceptable tools of war. For more than 129 days, and now reaching 133 days, Israel has defended itself from Hamas' terror, which included a massacre of more than 1,200 Israelis and taking hundreds of people hostage.
On October 7th, Iran-backed Hamas massacred more than 1,200 Israelis and took hundreds of people hostage. It's critical that Israel has the resources needed to defeat Hamas and free the hostages, and that we provide humanitarian aid to innocent Palestinians in Gaza.
Today marks 133 days since the Oct. 7th massacre, and Iran-backed Hamas terrorists are still holding hostages, killing courageous IDF members and targeting innocent Israelis. Hamas must pay for this evil. We can’t stop fighting to destroy Hamas and #BringThemAllHome.
On October 7, the world watched Hamas terrorists invade Israel and brutally kidnap, torture, rape, burn alive, and murder innocent people, including Americans. There should be no equivocation about Hamas. They're terrorists, even if the @UN won’t accept it. https://t.co/HqfBQeMywA
On October 7th, Hamas terrorists used brutal sexual violence as a weapon of war. This weaponized sexual violence should shock the conscience of the entire world. I spoke out yesterday and will continue to use my voice to stand up for the survivors of these attacks. https://t.co/K5i1K7askM
The sexual violence that took place on 10/7 should sicken all of us to our core. I led a letter that urged @UN_Women to condemn these vile acts, which they did days later. Thank you @RepDWStweets for hosting a discussion about these atrocities and why we must speak out. https://t.co/8GqtY6WPt2
The sexual violence that took place on 10/7 should sicken all of us to our core. I led a letter that urged @UNWomenWatch to condemn these vile acts, which they did days later. Thank you @RepDWStweets for hosting a discussion about these atrocities and why we must speak out. https://t.co/D7ywxfCiTB
Today, I spoke about why the resolution I helped lead condemning the sexual assault, mutilation, and rape of innocent civilians by Hamas on Oct. 7 is so important. I’m proud it passed with bipartisan support. https://t.co/CUNoHkoUlr
Tonight I voted to condemn Hamas’ horrific rape and sexual violence against Israeli women. Last year, I led the charge to call out UN Women @unwomenchief for their silence on these brutal attacks targeting women. These tactics are disgusting. https://t.co/hmJ6AdssEv
Today, I was proud to join my colleagues, @SecondGentleman, @ambherzog, & so many incredible advocates to speak out against the horrific acts of sexual violence committed by Hamas on 10/7. This is an extremely difficult topic for me to speak of, but we cannot be silent. https://t.co/v6bNTMIMwM
Today I heard the devastating accounts of survivors of Hamas’s #October7 massacre. Despite witnessing unspeakable horrors - mass murder, rape, torture - these brave survivors continue to make their voices heard. We must defeat #Hamas so that these atrocities are never repeated. https://t.co/GveMEzA7y1
For more than 129 days, Israel has defended itself from Hamas’ terror. Hamas committed despicable crimes on October 7th. It’s shameful @RepRashida wouldn’t support a resolution condemning rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas. https://t.co/NfMtUty9dY
The House unequivocally condemns Hamas' use of rape & sexual violence as weapons of war against innocent Israeli women & girls. The world needs to know the truth about these barbaric & despicable acts of terror. We will never stop working to hold these perpetrators accountable. https://t.co/0ltWYJG2MN
The U.S. Congress stands in strong, bipartisan solidarity with the victims of terrorism and sexual violence. Hamas’ atrocities were shocking in their depravity, and this resolution roundly condemns the hatred, antisemitism, and cruelty of October 7. It’s an honor to work with my… https://t.co/GFF3t1iMZF
I introduced a resolution condemning Hamas's use of rape & sexual assault on & since Oct 7th alongside @MarioDB, @RepKManning, and @RepJenKigg. Tonight, with near-unanimous support, it passed. Our resolution makes it clear: Rape & sexual assault are not acceptable tools of war. https://t.co/D9YyeNWFEb
