Australia has approved the cultivation of its first genetically modified fruit, potentially saving bananas. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the export of bananas from India to Russia via sea. A consignment of 1,540 boxes of bananas was flagged off from Maharashtra by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev in a collaborative effort. India is gearing toward significantly increasing its banana exports, with significant potential for exporting fresh fruit to Russia. Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, known as the 'Banana city of central India,' is organizing its annual Banana Festival, boasting vast banana cultivation involving thousands of farmers and yielding a substantial amount of bananas.
