A Utah man was convicted of assaulting law enforcement at the US Capitol on January 6. Another individual from Crown Point was sentenced to 2.5 years in federal prison for storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Additionally, a change of plea hearing is scheduled for Thursday in the Capitol riot case of James Weeks of New York, who allegedly wielded a can of pepper spray, struck a Capitol window with a pole, and cheered with the mob. The Justice Department has secured over 820 plea agreements related to the January 6 riot so far. Sentencing is set for September 26 in the Capitol riot case of Odin Meacham of Utah, who was convicted earlier this week for assaulting an officer with a flagpole. A change of plea hearing is also scheduled for July 1 for Benjamin Cohen of Connecticut, one of the youngest January 6 defendants, accused of pushing and shoving police.
