A significant disruption in communication systems affected 911 emergency lines and administrative channels in Jefferson County on May 23-25. The computer system used by DC 911 dispatch also experienced a failure, forcing call takers and dispatchers to communicate via voice over the radio. Jefferson County's emergency dispatch phone lines were down, and all 911 calls were routed through Denver. The outage lasted for more than three hours before the lines were restored on Friday night. County officials advised residents to call 911 only for life-threatening emergencies during the outage.
