Last week, the West Bank’s expired acting president, Mahmoud Abbas, formed a new government and appointed the non-elected Mohammed Mustafa as the new Prime Minister. Mustafa, a former deputy Prime Minister, economy minister, and economic adviser to Abbas, has revealed a bold plan for reform and the reconstruction of Gaza. His appointment has been welcomed by the USA, urging the Palestinian Authority to work towards a reform government. China also extended congratulations and support for Mustafa's new role, emphasizing the importance of enhancing authority and supporting all political factions in Palestine in achieving internal reconciliation through consultation and dialogue. Raja Khalidi highlighted that for decades, Palestinians have been represented by liberation organizations, but today, the state is the only entity that can serve as the national home for all 14 million Palestinians worldwide. Samer Sinijlawi, a Fatah activist from Jerusalem, unveiled the profile of the new Palestinian Prime Minister, indicating that the incoming Prime Minister's plans are a significant step towards ending corruption and establishing unified governance of Palestinian lands.
