Christine Lee, a solicitor accused by MI5 of being a Chinese spy, is suing the UK intelligence agency at the Investigatory Powers Tribunal. Lee claims the politically-motivated decision has destroyed her life and left her a prisoner. The tribunal heard allegations that the MI5 alert branding Lee a Chinese agent was issued to divert attention from the Partygate scandal involving former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Barry Gardiner, whose office received £500,000 from Lee, suggested the MI5 spy alert was a ploy to distract the public. MI5 issued the alert accusing Lee of political interference activities on behalf of China.
