China's Chery Automobile Co. is expanding its global footprint by establishing an $800m automobile factory in Vietnam. This move marks a significant milestone as Chery becomes the first Chinese electric vehicle maker to set up a facility in the country. The project is a result of a joint venture agreement signed with a local Vietnamese company, as announced by Vietnam's trade ministry.
