The national debt of the United States is approaching $35 trillion, with an alarming rate of increase of roughly $1 trillion every 100 days. Currently, the debt stands at $34 trillion, equating to $103,204 per American. The U.S. pays $2.4 billion daily on interest. Members of Congress are calling for a halt to decades of out-of-control spending and are advocating for a thorough review of spending bills in regular order. The House GOP is currently on track to address these issues. As part of the budgeting decisions for FY25, the Department of Commerce budget was discussed at the House Commerce's Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee hearing.
