The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that 13 tornadoes touched down in the DMV area on June 5, a significant increase from the initially reported seven tornadoes. This update comes after further damage reports, aerial drone surveys, and radar analysis. Out of the 13 tornadoes, nine were confirmed to have struck Maryland. Tornadoes also affected Virginia and West Virginia. The NWS's efforts in updating the tornado ratings, paths, and damage reports have been acknowledged and appreciated by media partners.
