The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has begun a gradual release of the first set of new hymns for its global hymnbook. This release, which comes six years after the initial announcement, includes 13 new songs. These songs are a mixture of recently written pieces and beloved Christian and Latter-day Saint standbys. The hymns have been made available in four languages. Members of the church got a preview of some of these new songs, and choirs in Madagascar and South Africa have already been involved in performances. The release occurred on Thursday.
