In a recent coordinated defense effort, US and UK air forces successfully intercepted hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones aimed at Israel, saving thousands of Israeli lives and demonstrating a significant capability to protect allies without engaging in direct conflict. This action has sparked discussions in Ukraine, where similar support against Russian aggression has not been forthcoming. Observers note that while the US and UK did not declare war on Iran, they effectively safeguarded Israeli lives, raising questions about the absence of comparable support for Ukraine. The lack of equivalent defense systems like Israel's Iron Dome and the absence of proactive defense measures by Western allies in Ukrainian airspace are highlighted as key differences.
US, UK, French airforces shoot down Iranian missiles & drones targeting Israel. Without having to hit Iran. Why don’t we shoot down Russian drones and missiles penetrating Ukraine’s sovereign territory?
Ukrainians could be forgiven for wondering why, if the US and UK are happy to shoot down missiles headed towards Israel, they won’t do the same for Ukraine. Or give Ukraine the means to do it itself.
After seeing US and British jets shoot down hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones last night, saving thousands of Israeli lives, everyone in Ukraine is saying the same thing. The Russian military is now weaker than the Iranian military, but not only will allies NOT shoot down… https://t.co/AKwPd9DaSn
Two major differences: Ukraine doesn’t have Iron Dome (because Israel has so far prioritised relations with Russia over helping a country in need), & no US, UK or French aircraft have been in the air to help Ukraine shoot down drones & missiles. If we help Israel, we shd help UA. https://t.co/8UlhkwTQes
Britain and the US have clearly shown how allies could intercept Russian missiles (and Iranian drones) fired at Ukraine, without necessarily leaving Nato airspace. The US and Britain did not declare war on Iran last night, they protected Israel. Why not the same for Ukraine?
