During the Russian elections, incidents of protest were reported in two distinct locations. In the Voronezh region town of Borisoglebsk, a woman was detained by the police after pouring brilliant green dye into a ballot box. Similarly, in the Moscow district of Otryadnoye, another woman engaged in the same form of protest by pouring green dye into a ballot box, prompting the Russian Investigative Committee to open a criminal case. The act of pouring green dye, known as zelyonka, into ballot boxes is being interpreted as a form of anti-regime protest, reminiscent of the 2017 attack on opposition figure Navalny.
