Imo GPT-5 will be different, and not in the "scary good" sense: it won't be a chat-assistant&API LLM at all, or won't feel this way. They'll reinvent the UX. So from OpenAI POV it doesn't matter much that competitors are catching up. To LLMs, not to their next-gen core product.
