Meteorologists with the National Weather Service are investigating multiple reports of a possible tornado touchdown in Sonoma County, California. The event occurred on Thursday morning around 11:00 am near the town of Two Rock, southwest of Rohnert Park and northwest of Petaluma. A velocity scan on radar captured the event, indicating a weak rotation signature, with red showing raindrops moving away from the radar and green toward it. If confirmed, this would be the first tornado in the Bay Area since 2011. The occurrence of a tornado in this region is extremely rare, with only 13 documented instances in Sonoma County since 1950.
