Following the Supreme Court's decision to review the legitimacy of the obstruction charge, at least two defendants involved in the January 6 Capitol riot have been released from prison. The charge of obstructing an official proceeding is a common federal charge against those who breached the Capitol. Meanwhile, the federal courts continue to process cases related to the riot, with various defendants facing different outcomes. Zylas Hamilton's case was unsealed, revealing a Facebook post where he boasted about the event. Zachariah Boulton was recommended three months in prison for his involvement, where he was seen pushing amid the mob and chanting 'F** McConnel'. Daniel Gary is set to appear in court, accused of being 'body-to-body with a group of rioters' and forcefully pushing his way into the Capitol. Robert Palmer, who was sentenced for assaulting police, expressed regret in a letter, referring to the event as an 'insurrection' and admitting to spraying & throwing a fire extinguisher at officers. Michael Picciuto was accused of challenging police to fight, and Justin McAllister of Atlanta was arrested for striking police with flagpoles he carried, one reading 'Jesus is my savior', another 'Trump is my President'. A security contractor claimed he was on a mission in DC and led a group into Pelosi's suite, but the DOJ found no proof of his security arrangement. Elliot Resnick, a former editor of the Jewish Press, pleaded guilty to a felony after initially claiming he was on assignment during the riot. Jonathan David Grace, 49, was sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting officers during the riot and ordered to pay $5,000 in fines. Ralph Celentano received a 78-month prison sentence, more than six years, for attacking officers, and Lee Giobbie of New Jersey was arrested for pushing against police and encouraging the crowd to breach the gates.
