Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion and its partners, including groups from Britain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany, have launched a coordinated protest against the expansion of fossil fuel production in the North Sea. The protests, part of the #NorthSeaFossilFree campaign, saw activists blocking access to oil infrastructure across Europe, including all main entrances to the Shell refinery near Rotterdam, with support from @SR_Netherlands. In Esbjerg Harbour, the punk band Octopussy Riot performed atop a container next to the Total headquarters as part of the protest, alongside Becoming species. The actions aim to halt new oil and gas extraction projects and dismantle existing fossil fuel infrastructure. Additionally, in Germany, the Last Generation group engaged in civil disobedience, blocking major roads in Berlin and demonstrating in 10 cities without resorting to gluing themselves to the ground. The protests included blockades at facilities, with actions in Scotland and expected in Denmark, and paralyzed traffic movement in Berlin during 'disobedient gatherings'. Hundreds of activists participated in these protests across the country.

Together with @SR_Netherlands we are blocking all main entrances to the Shell refinery near Rotterdam. Shell still plans to increase production & expand their activities. We should not just stop with new projects but also dismantle old fossil fuel infra. #northseafossilfree https://t.co/3YRbdGn3Fs
