The Indian Cabinet has approved a significant defense deal, clearing the procurement of over 200 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for the Indian Navy at a cost of approximately Rs 20,000 crore ($2.3 billion). This deal, a part of the Navy's weapons upgrade initiative, is slightly lower than the initially reported Rs 19,000 crore. BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India and Russia, is expected to finalize the contract with the Indian Ministry of Defence in early March. The missiles are intended to bolster the Indian Navy's operational capabilities.
