A peace summit in Switzerland aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine war has been the most far-reaching effort to date. However, Moscow was not invited, which undermines the possibility of conflict resolution. The Global Peace Summit produced plenty of solidarity but did not result in any major diplomatic breakthroughs. On the eve of the summit, Vladimir Putin unveiled a peace proposal of his own, which indicated no intention of reaching a sustainable peace with Ukraine.
