In recognition of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, multiple members of Congress have introduced legislation aimed at combating human trafficking. Rep. Kat Cammack introduced the Human Trafficking Awareness Training Act, which aims to provide training to state, local, tribal, and territorial departments in partnership with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). Rep. Veronica Escobar highlighted her meetings with regional law enforcement and local organizations to discuss prevention efforts and federal support. Rep. Russell Fry, alongside Reps. Ted Lieu, Ann Wagner, and Robert Garcia, introduced the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act, which would grant federal criminal record relief to survivors of human trafficking for nonviolent offenses committed as a direct result of being trafficked. Rep. Tim Walberg announced the unanimous passage of the bipartisan Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act by the Education and Workforce Committee. Rep. Byron Donalds criticized President Biden's border policy for exacerbating human trafficking and supported the training measures proposed by Rep. Cammack. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick emphasized the ongoing commitment to ending human trafficking, which devastates the lives of tens of millions around the world, including in the United States. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee mentioned her Stop Human Trafficking in School Zones Act as part of her efforts to #EndTrafficking. The FBI's Boston division also highlighted the work of their Child Exploitation - Human Trafficking Task Force in combating trafficking.
