Representatives Ritchie, Mike Levin, Jerry Nadler, Sarbanes, and Gregory Meeks announced that New York and California have received significant funding for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). New York State was awarded $14,786,777, and California received over $168 million for building out their EV charger networks. New York City, specifically, obtained $15 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (USDOTFHWA) to expand EV charging in Manhattan. The BIL, which these representatives supported, aims to tackle the climate crisis by making EVs more accessible, creating jobs, and saving money for American families. Additionally, a total of $622 million has been allocated nationwide, including funding for Maryland's 3rd congressional district (MD03), to increase the EV charging infrastructure.
