Philadelphia is preparing for its first heat wave of 2024, which is expected to last at least six days. The heat wave will bring dangerously high temperatures with heat index values in the 100s. In response, the City of Philadelphia’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced the opening of over 100 swimming pools and 90 spraygrounds. Pools will begin opening on a rolling basis starting Monday, June 17, just in time for the heat wave.
