New York City is experiencing a heat wave with record high temperatures expected to continue through the weekend. In response, the city has opened numerous cooling centers, including various DOE schools and locations such as the Museum of the City of New York. These centers will operate on Sunday, June 23, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and seek air-conditioned environments, especially if temperatures reach 90°F and up, to avoid heat-related illnesses. The NYC Mayor’s Office and other city departments are urging people to check on their neighbors and utilize available resources, including the 24/7 cool options map, to stay safe.
