There is ongoing discussion within the NCAA about potentially expanding the March Madness field beyond the current 68 teams. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey has been advocating for this change over the past two years. While some, like @slmandel, are open to the idea with certain conditions, others like @JimTrotter_NFL argue against it. Suggestions include having the Final 8 at-large teams play in Dayton and reverting back to a 64-team format.
I've become a NCAA Tournament contractionist. Go back to 64. Or at least make the First Four completely out of at-large teams. The small-conference 16-seed AQs should get to experience the real NCAA Tournament.
First things first. A conference tournament winner should not have to play in Dayton. One of the national guys, I forget which one, had a good idea: Final 8 at-large teams go to Dayton. https://t.co/QpLDbo1YYl
There is talk that the higher ups are considering expanding the March Madness field — in the name of increased revenue, presumably. But all money is not good money, writes @JimTrotter_NFL. Why NCAA officials should leave the tournament alone ⤵️ https://t.co/jC5g7igypR
NCAA’s basketball tournament may be ‘perfect’ now, but prepare for inevitable expansion https://t.co/jMR9NMnH77
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey has been leading the charge over the last two years to expand the NCAA Tournament beyond 68 teams. @slmandel isn't fully against the idea, but he has a small caveat. More ⤵️ https://t.co/ELllytt8L4 https://t.co/0L1nTcRF9b
