Several foreign tourists and their Afghan companions were killed by armed attackers in Bamiyan province of Afghanistan on May 17. The attack resulted in a total of 8-9 deaths, including 4-5 foreign tourists. Initial reports suggest that the Taliban fighters who were protecting the tourists were also targeted. While the identities of the foreigners are being ascertained, the primary suspect for the attack is the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). The incident occurred in a local market in Bamyan city, and there are suspicions that some of the foreign victims might be American.
