The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted in favor of a resolution calling for a humanitarian truce in Gaza. The resolution received 120 yes votes, 14 no votes, and 45 abstentions. The United States was among the 14 countries that voted against the resolution. The resolution does not specifically condemn the Oct. 7 surprise attack by Hamas, or mention Hamas at all. Some countries and individuals criticized the outcome, arguing that condemning Hamas is necessary regardless of one's stance on Israel.
