Senator Dick Durbin, along with nearly 70 Democratic members of Congress, is urging the Biden Administration to consider refugee status for certain Palestinians fleeing Gaza. In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Durbin and Representative Greg Casar are advocating for the State Department to open new pathways for Palestinian refugees to migrate to the United States. The lawmakers emphasize that countless families with strong ties to the U.S. remain stranded in life-threatening conditions and should be able to seek relief and resettlement.
