In a series of events that have drawn international condemnation, Israeli authorities demolished the home of Fakhri Abu Diab, a prominent Palestinian human rights campaigner and community leader, in occupied East Jerusalem to expand touristic and biblical theme parks. This initiative also included the destruction of a multigenerational house of a retired Palestinian accountant in Sinwan for a touristic garden, a road next to the wall of the old city, and a courtyard used as a weekly market. The US State Department and US Representative Mikie Sherrill condemned these actions, stating they damage Israel's standing in the world, dehumanize Palestinians, undermine U.S. diplomacy, and hinder efforts towards peace.
I condemn the Netanyahu govt's demolition of Fakhri Abu Diab's home. A leader in East Jerusalem, Abu Diab was visited by the State Dept. last month. These actions by Netanyahu dehumanize Palestinians, undermine U.S. diplomacy & set back efforts toward peace. They must stop now.
