A new report jointly released by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and Tel Aviv University on Holocaust Remembrance Day reveals a significant global surge in antisemitic incidents, marking the highest levels observed in nearly five decades. In 2023, the ADL recorded over 8,873 incidents, a 140% increase from the previous year. The report highlights that the escalation in antisemitism has been particularly pronounced since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, describing the situation as a crisis that demands immediate action. In Canada, B'nai Brith noted a marked rise in antisemitic acts of violence, harassment, and vandalism following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, with violent antisemitism increasing by 208%.
