Negotiators from the White House, Senate Democrats, and Senate Republicans are continuing to negotiate on a national security supplemental package. Senate Majority Leader Schumer and other senators have expressed optimism about the progress made in the negotiations, emphasizing the importance of finding a compromise to address the humanitarian and security crisis at the border. The focus is on passing a national security request to aid partners in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific, while also reforming the asylum process to address the Biden border crisis. Bipartisan efforts are ongoing to reach a fair deal that all Democrats should support, with an emphasis on the urgency of the situation.
A) Schumer: Over the last few days, negotiations on a path forward to getting national security supplemental done have made good progress. As I've said, if we believe something is important and urgent, we should stay and get the job done.
1) Schumer: Negotiators from the White House, Senate Democrats and Senate Republicans will continue to negotiate on a national security supplemental package. Yesterday, we had another round of productive conversations and there was more progress. But.. there's more work to do
A) From colleague Tyler Olson. Dem CT Sen Murphy on border negotiations: We made progress yesterday, we made progress today. It's really helpful to have the White House and DHS in the room. We're not there yet but we continue to head in the right direction.
The Biden border crisis won't end unless our policies change. That's why I voted along with my House colleagues earlier this year to reform our asylum process. Democrats who control the Senate and the White House must act. https://t.co/UxaHRfgccI
Right now, we have an opportunity to stand with our allies while also taking steps to address the humanitarian and security crisis at our border. We cannot falter now, we must act. I urge bipartisan negotiators to keep working together to find a compromise.
I appreciate the efforts of negotiators and am confident they're working towards a fair deal all Democrats should support. It's vital that we pass @POTUS' national security request to aid our partners in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific and protect US national security.
