President Joe Biden has indicated that the war in Gaza could end with a ceasefire tomorrow if Hamas releases the hostages it has held since October 7th. Biden has also warned that he will halt offensive weapons shipments to Israel if they attempt to clear Hamas from Rafah, a move deemed necessary to defeat Hamas. Despite Biden's statement, Hamas has rejected the possibility of a ceasefire based solely on the release of hostages, asserting that the war's end will not automatically lead to the hostages' freedom. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu also stated that if Hamas surrenders and lays down its arms, the conflict would conclude, suggesting possible safe exile for Hamas leaders.
Israeli PM Netanyahu on @dansenor’s podcast: “if Hamas lays down its arms and surrenders, this war is over” saying Hamas leaders could safely leave Hamas for exile (SA? Qatar?), assuming hostages are released. https://t.co/CbhdVDBazT
By withholding arms shipments to Israel, Biden is strengthening Hamas. Hamas started this war. Hamas refuses to return the hostages it took on October 7th. Hamas must surrender. If they won’t, Israel must do what it takes to destroy Hamas. https://t.co/eIoFpMjNi2
Hamas has rejected @JoeBiden’s statement at a fundraiser yesterday that there would be a ceasefire “tomorrow” in Gaza if Hamas released all of the hostages. So according to Hamas, the end of the war alone will not free the hostages. Therefore: Israel must fight to destroy Hamas.
