The Rajasthan High Court has urged the central government to declare a national emergency due to the ongoing heatwave in the state, which has killed hundreds. The court took suo motu cognisance of the deaths caused by the extreme heat and emphasized the need to classify heatwaves and coldwaves as national calamities. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held meetings with various departmental officials in Jaipur to address the crisis. State ministers Jogaram Patel and Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena mentioned that advisories have been issued to protect residents from the heatwave. Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agrawal advised people to avoid going out in the sun and to visit hospitals if they experience heat-related symptoms, noting that heatwave wards have been established in major hospitals.
