A severe heatwave in Pakistan has reportedly caused more than 500 deaths over six days, with Karachi being heavily affected. Jinnah Hospital in Karachi reported 31 more heatstroke cases and thousands of hospitalisations. The local government, however, disputes the figures, stating that only 13 people have died from weather-related issues in Karachi in June. Rescue agency Edhi reported receiving 568 bodies in five days, significantly higher than the average of about 40 per day, including 141 on Tuesday alone. Temperatures in Karachi have reached near 50C, pushing the limits of human survivability.
