Over the past three years, more than 280 people in Punjab have died from drug overdoses, with 14 fatalities occurring in the past fortnight. Family members of the victims allege that local police officers were being bribed by drug paddlers. In response, IG Harmanbir Singh Gill stated that the Punjab Police is fully prepared to facilitate the treatment of those addicted to drugs and will provide all necessary support. A campaign will be conducted by the police administration to address drug cases.
