A tragic incident occurred in Uttarakashi, Uttarakhand where 22 trekkers from Karnataka were stranded due to extreme weather conditions. The rescue operations, coordinated by Karnataka state disaster management authorities in association with the Union Home Department, Uttarakhand state government, and Indian Mountaineering Federation, were initiated promptly. Karnataka's Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda flew to Dehradun to oversee the operations. Despite the efforts, nine trekkers lost their lives, with five bodies initially recovered and four more identified later. The survivors have been safely rescued and brought back to Bengaluru on an IndiGo flight. The Indian Army Adventure Wing mourns the loss of the trekkers.
