The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced an average 5% increase in toll prices across the country starting June 3. The hike, which was initially put on hold due to the Lok Sabha polls, will now be implemented. In Tamil Nadu, 36 toll booths, including the Budur and Kayathar Salaipudur Toll Booths on Kayathar road near Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district, have already started charging the increased fees from midnight. Motorists using expressways nationwide will experience higher costs as a result of this yearly revision of highway user fees, which was initially scheduled to take effect on April 1.
