Justice Ritu Bahri has been appointed and sworn in as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, effective from the date she assumes charge. She was previously a judge at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Her appointment, made by the President of India, is in accordance with the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India. Justice Bahri has the distinction of being the first woman to hold the position of Chief Justice at the Uttarakhand High Court.
