India's merchandise exports increased to USD 38.13 billion in May 2024, up 9% from USD 34.95 billion in May 2023, according to government data. Overall exports, including services, rose to USD 68.29 billion from USD 61.95 billion in the same period. The trade deficit narrowed from USD 11.41 billion to USD 10.90 billion. Services exports also saw an increase, reaching USD 17.28 billion from USD 15.88 billion. Imports grew by 7.7% to USD 61.91 billion, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal announced.
