In Mumbai, a devastating incident occurred when an iron hoarding collapsed on a petrol pump in the Ghatkopar area amid rain and gusty winds, resulting in 12 fatalities and injuring at least 65 people. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a search and rescue operation and plans to file a complaint against the Railway and advertising company Ego Media under the Disaster Management Act. The land on which the hoarding was erected belongs to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and not the Central Railway, according to Central Railway CPRO DR Swapnil Nila. The BMC has also issued a notice to Ego Media for installing the hoarding. Of the injured, 43 are still under treatment, and 31 have been discharged.
