The Vancouver Canucks are intensifying talks with the Calgary Flames to acquire Elias Lindholm. The potential deal includes prospects, a first-round pick, and a conditional pick. Vancouver aims to bolster their lineup for a playoff push. The Flames are reportedly working on a deal involving Hunter Brzustewicz and OHL leading scoring D man. The trade is seen as a substantial haul for the Flames, given Lindholm's asking price for an extension. The market for centers is relatively thin, and the Lindholm trade could impact the market for centers and other players. The Canucks' aggressive move to acquire Lindholm early in the season is seen as going all-in to win. Lindholm's trade to Vancouver has sparked trade discussions in Montreal with Sean Monahan. The market for centers is heating up with at least two teams focused on acquiring veteran centers. Lindholm expressed relief after being dealt, indicating that the trade had been on his mind for a long time.
With the Jets acquiring Sean Monahan on Friday and the #Canucks landing Elias LIndholm earlier in the week, which addition will make a bigger impact on their new team? More from @jamiemclennan29 in The Talking Point: https://t.co/FU78oEoiWY https://t.co/thiUoy9KRw
How the Elias Lindholm trade happened: Mexican vacations, a no-trade list and no in-flight Wi-Fi ⤵️ https://t.co/bAxXMmhpDp
Sean Monahan trade for @NHLJets comes after they were outbid for Elias Lindholm, NHL source told ESPN. Not a bad fallback position, considering how many teams wanted Monahan. Question now: Where do Avalanche look for a center now that arguably the “big two” are off the board.

Predictably the Lindholm trade to Vancouver has sparked trade discussions in Montreal with Sean Monahan. At least two teams remain focused on the veteran center and continue to do due diligence.

The fact the other two teams who were bidding on Lindholm were Wpg and Colorado makes him an even bigger score for #canucks If you can improve while at the same time block two potential WCF opponents from securing the same player, it’s an even bigger win.
trade for Lindholm for a second day in row
Wasn’t that Lindholm wanted out of Calgary. Wasn’t that #Flames didn’t want to keep him long-term. Two sides were simply too far apart on dollar figure. https://t.co/RMZopagktW
Wouldn’t be surprised if Brzustewicz and Calgary have something done in the next little while. Player seems really excited to join the team. Opportunity exists with a team pivoting to a younger approach. #Flames https://t.co/ug1rAv7Mg5
On w/ @primetimeklein & myself, @Fan960Steinberg says he feels the next piece of #Flames news we might get could be Hunter Brzustewicz signing w/ the #Flames @FriedgeHNIC mentioned last night there was some concern in Vancouver they wouldn't get him signed.
Per TSN's Darren Dreger, the trade market for centers is "relatively thin" right now. And with the trade deadline looming, this is an area where the Capitals could take advantage. More: https://t.co/stRGVLuChh
Elias Lindholm says he never told the #flames he wouldn't sign a contract extension: "I was always willing to stay."

Defensively sound, face-off winning 2-way centers who can also play with skilled players are who help you win cups think Bobby Holik, Jordan Staal, Joe Nieuwendyk(cup years) Anthony Cirelli, John Madden, Dave Bolland etc. Lindholm is a very high-end version of one of those guys
Rutherford on Lindholm : I talked with Rick Tochett last night, I suspect Lindholm will play with Pettersson.
Jim Rutherford on re-signing Elias Lindholm : We looked at the trade and he could be a rental or long term, our preference is long term. Complete Jim Rutheford interview @DonnieandDhali and You Tube
Jim Rutherford on with @JeffMarek right now on @Sportsnet650: I suspect that Rick Tocchet will play Pettersson and Lindholm together. #Canucks
The Center market is relatively thin. Hence, the @NHLFlyers are taking calls on Scott Laughton. They’re not eager to trade him but Danny Briere is gauging the interest.

I'll write more in a bit for @BOSHockeyNow, but quick reaction to #NHLBruins not getting Elias Lindholm: Based on all I'm hearing, yes, the ask was way too high. That being said, just because the ask was too high doesn't, as I see so many saying, mean the Bruins 'don't need…

Love the deal for the @Canucks. Going for it. @flames get a bunch of pieces for a rental. Maybe the best they could do? Would market have grown leading up to 3/8 deadline? Maybe? Maybe not? Wonder if someone will step for Markstrom? NJ? LA? TO? https://t.co/k9p2dX31Es
Lindholm has mid-level playoff success. 17 points in 27 games over three #NHL post-seasons
Kuzmenko and Flames still have to come to Vancouver twice. #Canucks and Lindholm won't visit Saddledome (unless it's in playoffs)
timing of the deal makes sense for #Canucks. Bit of a gauntlet. Why not bring in reinforcement sooner rather than later? https://t.co/FFIJaindl9
🚨trade grades🚨 On Elias Lindholm to VAN, with @eduhatschek & @coreypronman https://t.co/uAbdadOC2x
Elias Lindholm is very likely to be the top UFA entering July 1. Big showcase with Vancouver incoming.
Not going to say #Flames fleeced the #Canucks, because VAN is going all in to win right now but the #Flames fleeced the #Canucks. https://t.co/EOG5QkvyJt
Man, this already was going to be a pretty underwhelming trade deadline with Elias Lindholm — a nice player, but come on — as the No. 1 target.
As I was saying...Bruins don't need this guy. Traded to the Canucks for Andrei Kuzmenko, prospects and a first round pick along with a conditional pick. That's a lot for a rental https://t.co/fLggNjZkAh
I can't claim to be an expert on the prospects, but this seems like a substantial haul for #Flames, especially since they didn't want to meet Lindholm's asking price on an extension. https://t.co/oRXNIvgH4p
Guess the Rangers aren’t getting Elias Lindholm. Good job by the Canucks to pounce on this early. Hefty price but got their guy. And they got him early. Amazing how far they’ve come. They traded Bo Horvat just over a year ago. Now they’re buying big.
#Canucks get a guy that makes them better. And that’s big for now and their playoff push. Hope Kuzmenko regains his scoring touch. Curious to see what becomes if Brzustewicz. Was always going to cost a 1st rounder.
Elias Lindholm is a really good player. I think he’s way better than his stats suggest. But he has nine goals and 32 points in 49 games and people are still trying to tell me I’m crazy for saying Sean Monahan, who has 13G, 45pts with lesser linemates won’t fetch a first… https://t.co/nnOu5dmeGY https://t.co/bRxwgaWlMZ
That's a haul. I like Vancouver going all-in, but it certainly didn't come cheap. Basically what you have to do if you want to execute a trade for one of the best rentals available a month early. https://t.co/2Owo5OCsX0
The #NYR definitely had interest in Lindholm, who may end up being the top center dealt in the lead-up to the deadline, but that cost is 🚀 https://t.co/cm6dg1F4ax
Live at 30 000 Feet. Further to the Trade ; I just received intel that Hunter Brzustewicz OHL leading scoring D man is part of package to @Flames in their deal with @Canucks . #Flames #Canucks #HockeyX #HockeyTwittwr https://t.co/jUG4VMsbDC
Sorry at an @NHLAlumni event. Lindholm trade is happening, Hunter Brzustewicz part of deal heading to Flames
I can't wait to hear: "Elias Lindholm passes it to Elias Pettersson, who passes it to Elias Pettersson, who scores!" #Canucks
This didn’t last long. #Flames #Canucks https://t.co/S0dinRqxJU
Who would've thought the #Canucks and #Flames would make two trades this season?
I don’t think Lindholm would have been a good fit for #NYR … this may be good they didn’t do this one. https://t.co/lqeAKbDeJl
With Lindholm likely off the market I'd say most of the center options available to NYR are... not so good. Drury is going to have to get crafty or... pay good prices for mediocre. Should be an interesting few weeks.
If, but more likely when, the Elias Lindholm to #Canucks trade goes through it should come as no surprise given Jim Rutherford's MO of striking early on and setting the NHL trade market. Pierre McGuire and I have spoken about this numerous times on @sickpodnhl.
Will be interesting to watch Lindholm on a new team. In my viewings this year, he didn’t look super engaged, and nothing like the guy from a few years ago, but lots of factors in play in Calgary.
Update on potential #Flames trade with Canucks ... https://t.co/wbW1JmYKhh
Holy shit it’s happening. #Canucks are pushing in their chips this is awesome. https://t.co/K3tjUoBxao

Sounds like Kuzmenko could be in deal for Lindholm.
👀 **Still Fluid** Kuzmenko ♻️ Lindholmamd more being worked on by the two clubs ! @Flames & @Canucks #Flames #Canucks #HockeyX #HockeyTwitter https://t.co/GS8RmMKBvX
I like the Lindholm fit, assuming it happens. Can fit in a variety of places in the lineup. Could be more affordable than first thought to extend because he’s having a down year offensively. Nice PP fit too. #Canucks @Sportsnet650
Vancouver should invest more in this season & Lindholm would be a great 2C fit. Just have to think it’ll be pricey - especially if there’s going to be an extension. https://t.co/lmgCNJtYca
I mean, if you're Vancouver, why not go all in? You're having a charmed season in terms of shooting luck, and all your best players are having career years there's no guarantee they'll be able to repeat. Burn the future assets to get someone like Lindholm and go for it.
Still Fluid ; But I’m told the @NHLFlames #Flames are working on a deal … continued in next tweet… #HockeyX #HockeyTwitter https://t.co/gLfmiaRBCF
Could #Flames trade their all-star before the festivities in Toronto? https://t.co/klWuJWqDdg
There is word tonight talks between Vancouver and Calgary are intensifying around Elias Lindholm. We will see where it goes.
Kaapo Kakko Trade Would Be No-Brainer For @NHLFlyers https://t.co/rZp8VwaC52
COLUMN: The Boston Bruins don't have a need for Calgary Flames center Elias Lindholm based on what we've seen through 49 games this season. And they certainly don't need to give away ridiculous trade packages concocted by internet prospect gurus 🐻🏒🏆 https://t.co/PZfMBKt0bp
