Rimac Group, the Porsche-backed, Bugatti-owning maker of electric hypercars, has unveiled a two-seat autonomous taxi named Verne. Developed by Project 3 Mobility, the robotaxi, which uses Mobileye technology and is Level 4 fully autonomous, is set to begin operation in 2026. The vehicle features a 43-inch display, a 17-speaker audio system, and more room than a Rolls-Royce. The first service will be launched in Zagreb, Croatia, with plans to expand to other European cities, including Germany and the U.K. The platform used for Verne is the same as that used by the Volkswagen Group for its self-driving VW ID Buzz full-electric robotaxi, also scheduled to go into service in 2026. The robotaxi is named after French writer Jules Verne.
