A European satellite operator has decided to switch from using the Ariane 6 rocket to SpaceX's Falcon 9 for the launch of the second satellite in Europe's latest generation of geostationary weather satellites, according to a report. This move comes as the Ariane 5 had its final launch last year, and the Ariane 6 is set to launch next month. However, the cost of launching with Ariane 6 is several times higher than with SpaceX, making SpaceX a more economical choice.

Europe used to be a major launcher of rockets with the Ariane series of rockets. Ariane 5 had it's final launch last year, and its replacement Ariane 6 will launch next month. But there's no chance of catching SpaceX. Ariane 6 launches will cost several times that of SpaceX. https://t.co/4BQBb4bEoo
