Qatar is intensifying efforts to sell more liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India, with plans to double exports by the end of the decade. Qatar has renewed a 7.5 million tons per year contract with Petronet, expiring in 2028, and is negotiating with other Indian firms, including Gail, which will offtake 4.5 MMTPA LNG under the renewed contract. At a conference in Goa, discussions highlighted the expected doubling of Indian LNG imports by 2030. QatarEnergy has also inked a 20-year deal with Petronet LNG to supply 7.5 million tonnes per annum starting May 2028. As part of a strategy to lock in customers for its output expansion, Qatar has agreed to reduce LNG prices in its long-term contract with Petronet LNG.
