The Italy-Africa Summit in Rome, attended by President Mattarella and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, has wrapped up with a focus on strengthening ties between Italy and African nations. Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF's managing director, engaged in discussions about development in Africa, AI, and the global economy. The Italian government presented a development plan to boost African economic growth and manage migration. Georgieva's meetings included talks with Ethiopia's Prime Minister on IMF support for the country's economy, commendation for Kenya's President Ruto on passing the 6th Review of the EFF/ECF and the 1st review of the RSF, discussions about Zimbabwe's economic stability with President Mnangagwa, and acknowledgment of Somalia's President Mohamud for implementing reforms. The summit was also a platform for Italy to outline its G7 Presidency priorities, including Africa's economic development, geoeconomic fragmentation, AI, and the green transition.
