The Sundance Film Festival 2024 has kicked off, with Ava DuVernay's new biographical drama 'Origin' taking center stage. The film, which is an adaptation of Isabel Wilkerson's 'Caste', has been lauded for making the non-fiction work more human and is set for a wide release in theaters this Friday. Critics have praised 'Origin' for its emotionally moving and intellectually stimulating narrative, with standout performances by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Jon Bernthal. The Ford Foundation proudly supports the film. Another film gaining attention is 'Ghostlight', directed by Alex Thompson & Kelly O'Sullivan and featuring Dolly de Leon. It tells the story of a bereaved construction worker who joins a community production of Romeo & Juliet, and has been commended for its poignant exploration of healing through performance.
I've already seen more friends here than I saw all week last year. Nature is healing! (and also online screenings don't start till Wednesday, so a lot of people were forced to come in person) #Sundance

First #Sundance review out of the gate: a winner, a gem, a critic's pick! But, of course, it's a Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson joint, after all! https://t.co/62t5dIqdVd
"Ghostlight" features a superb screenplay from Kelly O'Sullivan and stand-out performances from Dolly De Leon and Katherine Mallen Kupferer. We don't want to give too much away in our review, but this is a little indie gem that's hard to resist. #Sundance https://t.co/uSRZbZT8wa
What to watch: ‘Origin’ is uniquely brilliant and riveting https://t.co/rSqnUDLdFd https://t.co/9FCWZCkhAm
GHOSTLIGHT is a lovely start to #Sundance 2024. A beautiful mix of charm, heartache, and healing via community and art. I often talk about how much I love how film/art helps me process difficult human truths — Ghostlight is literally a film about just that. A hugely thoughtful,… https://t.co/KWHaDtJptv
Ghostlight - Well that was a great start. A lovey film about healing through performing. And about the remarkable power of Shakespeare and how his words can still have a profound emotional impact. The film itself feels like it can heal. Quite touching. #Sundance2024 https://t.co/aBbxofAeTx
GHOSTLIGHT: You know made a quality #Sundance24 weeper when the sniffles are louder than the movie itself❤️A moving triumph that is a testament to the power theater in healing and understanding. Think the basic setup of Barry meets the raw emotional depth of Manchester by the Sea https://t.co/Xj1RoluWd9
In Park City for my 25th consecutive Sundance Film Festival today. A quarter of a century. It’s a little dorky, but I’m in a nostalgic mood. Thought I’d share my 25 favorite things about my Sundance experience. Films, memories, cheesy reflections. In no order and as time permits. https://t.co/WN9RN5RZhU
I know that saying a movie is educational makes it sound boring, but Ava DuVernay's ORIGIN is educational in the best way, and it's also very entertaining. My review: https://t.co/S4sU1yDSJY #Origin #atAMC https://t.co/L0U8QpNjMw
Seated and ready for my first film right away already! Sundance starting early on Thursday, usually nothing until the evening. Up first - Ghostlight, directed by Alex Thompson & Kelly O'Sullivan. As always, love going in to see a film I know nothing about. #Sundance2024 https://t.co/vL7mos76wh
another #Sundance begins, this one with Ghostlight, featuring Triangle of Sadness’ Dolly de Leon in a movie about a bereaved construction worker who joins a community production of Romeo & Juliet https://t.co/RlJUbOVaZj
