A Wired opinion piece suggesting that Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) could be used for terrorism has sparked criticism from tech experts. They argue that the concerns raised about DAOs are equally applicable to encrypted messaging and emphasize that DAOs are not as powerful as portrayed in the article. The article has been described as 'tech-illiterate trash' and 'mega trash tier writing' by critics, who assert that DAOs are not used by terrorists and are not useful for extremist activities.
"Anyone who knows anything about DAOs knows they are neither used by or useful to terrorists." Another brilliant piece by @prestonjbyrne https://t.co/vBzxMDtOmV
This article is some mega trash tier writing. DAOs for online extremism? Wtf? I'm going to suggest the the last place one would want to take part in extremist activities, is a public, immutable, transparent onchain ledger, where their identity would be tied to that action… https://t.co/4JMQqdLSv8
Notes on the stupid "DAO Terrorism" article in @Wired. https://t.co/XbvbZ4Ou2z

This "DAO terrorism" piece in Wired is the most tech-illiterate trash I've ever read. Terrorists would make easier use of WhatsApp (as the Taliban did, defeating America) to coordinate unlawful activity than unencrypted onchain transaction payloads. https://t.co/Nlacl7zYYw https://t.co/x9B0TsCkRw
this opinion piece is silly for a number of reasons: 1) every concern they have about daos applies equally to encrypted messaging (racist group chats will end democracy etc) 2) they believed the marketing of daos and think they are way more powerful than they are https://t.co/hkBgvkNDBS
